Beaded Buffalo

This is a variation of the Starburst , which was the first design I painted on a skull. The difference is that this one has hints of yellow and the design is not as detailed as the original. The beadwork and feathers are also different.

The bag has a furry buffalo back, a partially beaded strap and measures 8″ x 11″.
 After I finished the bag, I wondered if the design had other applications, so a smaller version wound up on the skull. It’s permanently fastened and won’t fall off.

This simple but eye-catching design is similar to one I’ve seen on my travels to the Dakotas. It’s painted on the skull, and there are beaded strips wrapped around each horn.
